Driving Through South Bohemia?

Don't get caught by automated toll cameras. Here's everything you need to know about the Czech highway vignette before you cross the border.

Why This Is Crucial for Your Trip

Automated Enforcement

Czech highways like the D3 are monitored by cameras that automatically check for valid e-vignettes. There are no toll booths and no warnings.

Avoid High Fines

Getting caught without a vignette can lead to on-the-spot fines up to CZK 5,000 or administrative proceedings with fines up to CZK 20,000.

Beware of Scammers

Many unofficial third-party websites charge significant extra 'service fees'. We guide you directly to the official government portal.

Your 3-Step Preparation Guide

1 Check Your Route & Vehicle

Confirm if your planned route includes toll sections (like the D3). Standard passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons require an e-vignette. Most major routes do.

2 Purchase on the Official Site

Use the official government website, eDalnice.cz. It's available in English. Have your license plate number and travel dates ready. The vignette can be purchased up to 3 months in advance.

3 Verify Credit Card & Confirmation

Ensure your credit card is enabled for international online payments. After purchase, you will receive an email confirmation. You do not need to print or display anything in your car.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are driving on a Czech motorway or expressway (marked with green or blue highway signs), you need a vignette. The main transit route, the D3, requires one for its entire length.

You can purchase vignettes valid for 1 day, 10 days, 30 days, or 1 year. Choose based on the length of your stay or transit.

This can happen with non-EU cards. First, contact your bank to authorize the transaction. Alternatively, you can buy vignettes in person at Czech Post offices or EuroOil gas stations near the border, but purchasing online in advance is easiest.

You can correct up to two characters in the license plate or change the country of registration up to 15 minutes after purchase on the official website.
